Meet Dr. Henderson

Dr. Henderson established Modern Internal Medicine to apply his experiences as a physician, mentor, athlete, and patient toward delivering a truly unique, comprehensive, and personalized wellness experience for patients.

Dr. Henderson graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine where he achieved an academic scholarship and honored multiple clerkships including Internal Medicine and Psychiatry.  He achieved placement at Yale for residency where he worked closely with Yale faculty associated with the VA Medical Center's weight loss program MOVE.  His work culminated in a presentation at Yale Grand Rounds.  He completed his Internal Medicine residency and board certification in 2009.

Following residency, Dr. Henderson continued his work in the field of weight loss.  He volunteered for the position of Physician Champion for the MOVE program at the VA Medical Center.  As a leader in this field, he helped many patients achieve weight loss and diabetes remission using strategies gleaned from his studies.

He continued his mentoring activities at the VA as well by volunteering for the position of Director of Education for Primary care and co-authoring a grant for rural health education.  As an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, he took a great interest in guiding future physicians and helping them develop both the medical and personal skills needed to care for others.

Besides his academic endeavors, Dr. Henderson competed enthusiastically as a high school and college athlete and team captain earning several honors including:  Academic All American, Conference Performer of the Week, and even setting an individual school record.

Having suffered a sports related ACL tear, a broken foot and other ensuing injuries, Dr. Henderson successfully completed multiple physical therapy regimens.  He has a unique perspective on maintaining wellness during times of injury.  He can utilize knowledge acquired through these experiences to develop personalized exercise and wellness plans to help those otherwise limited by chronic orthopedic conditions maintain function and reduce pain.

Through his experiences as a physician, mentor, athlete, and patient Dr. Henderson assimilated a number of techniques he can use to develop a truly unique, comprehensive, and personalized wellness experience for patients. From his time as a fifteen year old Eagle Scout through his many endeavors as a mentor and volunteer, Dr. Henderson brings to the practice of medicine a unique set of experiences centered in leadership and serving others.  He looks forward to serving Frederick and the surrounding areas, and to helping those in the community achieve enhanced wellness in the present and the future.
